The story behind the Natural Life Business Partnership®
The Natural Life Business Partnership (NLBP) was born from a unique vision of our Founder and Chief Visionary, Camille Miller, and her need to find a community of her own. With her deep spiritual beliefs, and being grounded by a holistic lifestyle, she began studying different modalities of natural health and the mind-body connection. As she became more ingrained in the lifestyle, she noticed it included food, medicine, the healing arts, agriculture, and spiritualism, but there was no single source to find everything. It seemed the communities of the natural life did not intercept with one another.
As she learned of the many small businesses and practitioners that were a part of the natural lifestyle, she wanted to make an impact in their business world as well as have her work truly reflect what she stood for as a person. After decades of experience in building businesses, running non-profits, and being blessed with an aptitude for fostering relationships, she knew the best way she could help was to create a professional organization committed to advancing soul-centered entreprenuer. She envisioned multi-disciplinary practitioners and the natural living community coming together as a cohesive group to connect and collaborate. After much thought and wonderful support from friends, family, and colleagues, the Natural Life Business Partnership was born.
NLBP and its members have deep rooted beliefs that we are a system of integrated parts, which include our emotions, behaviors, thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, and bio-chemistry. Our bodies have their own ecosystem and although approaches will vary among practitioners, what is most important is the deep respect and acknowledgement for the healing wisdom of the body-mind system and its ability to return to a state of optimum health.
Historically, orthodox medicine has been in conflict with natural medicine, we are starting to see a new revolution where the two disciplines are beginning to work together, calling it functional, integrative, or complementary medicine. The deep dissatisfaction that is arising around our national healthcare system, along with the feelings of despair for many chronically ill patients, has turned many towards holistic practices that cost less money and serve a broader approach to healing with more time and attention given to the patient. We now see MDs, NDs, reiki masters, nutritionalists, farmers, and many other healing art practitioners coming together to serve the patient in the best interest for their health and lifestyle. This partnership allows the patient a team of professionals with the goal to treat their mind, body, and spirit as a whole. This type of integrated approach combines the very best and scientifically validated therapies, from both conventional and natural systems, and focuses on using the less-invasive interventions whenever possible.
The natural health movement and its whole-person approach is leaving an imprint on many of the nation’s hospitals, universities, and medical schools. We are seeing a bonding of philosophies between mainstream and natural doctors. Medical schools have added nontraditional courses to their curriculum allowing for the integration of the two systems, and we now see that hospitals have opened functional medicine centers and holistic treatment centers. Our organization was formed to lend credence to this rebirth of natural healing and to build and support the many practitioners and the soul-centered community through networking and sharing best business practices. There is no other collaborative network of this magnitude working together for a healthier nation.
“Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.” ~B.K.S. Iyengar
